Introducing New Flavors to Babies

If you’re beginning your baby’s BLW journey, here’s how I safely introduce spices: I cut up sweet potatoes, using my pointer and middle finger as a guide for width and length, and perform the “mush test” for softness. I then divide the sweet potato into 3–5 batches, sprinkling each with a different spice. Introduce each batch over 3 days, observing any reactions, and consult your pediatrician before starting solids.

Note: Avoid honey, sugar, and salt for infants under one year old. Remember, I’m a BLW nanny sharing tips from experience, not medical advice—always consult your child’s pediatrician when introducing new foods!
